North-East Historical Keyboard Association (NEHKA), Inc.
The North-East Historical Keyboard Association is a planned non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that aims to support and further research, restoration, conservation, education and performance practice on historical keyboard instruments from on the 17th to 20th centuries.
Planned activities include but are not limited to:
Assembling resources and expertise around performance, maintenance and restoration
Implementing and documenting both proven and experimental techniques for maintaining musical viability of historically important original instruments while preserving their historical integrity
Creating opportunities for musical, technical and educational collaboration, dialogue and research to further enable the field of early keyboard performance.
Running workshops, concerts and educational events to creatively introduce the instruments and music to new audiences
Interfacing with institutions, venues, museums, other organizations and interested members of the public, and working to find suitable places to house instruments of the collection
Helping educate and create sustainable career opportunities for the next generation of performers, technicians, conservators and academics in this area of growing importance and cultural significance.
